Everything Old Is New Again In Kyle Motsinger’s Fun New Music Video “Retro”

MUSIC

SCHEDULE FOR PUBLICATION THURSDAY 7/8

Kyle Motsinger is a NYC-based singer songwriter who also happens to be an adorable ginger cub. His songs’ sounds can tend to frothy pop tunes with a throwback vibe of favorite summer jams you just wanna kick up your heals to and have fun along with. His lyrics can also subtly belie a deeper emotional content you don’t wanna let slide by, such as the importance of positive body image as witnessed in his song “No Shame.”

His most recent single, “Retro” is all kinds of retro fun and it’s your ear worm summer jam for the next couple months! Filmed in Manhattan’s vintage boutique Hamlet’s Vintage, the song and style will take you back to all kinds of decades you may or may not have lived through, from the 60’s forward, with its sound giving off a healthy dose of disco funk flavor that Dee-Lite reveled in decades ago. But if you recognize the font and style of the opening sequence…this tune is for you!

As he explains of the song’s genesis over at Bear World Magazine, ‘“I’ve been really bored with today’s clothing styles. I’ve found that clothing used to be more colorful and bolder in design. I thought it would be fun to talk about this in a song.” And when he asked his friends what they wanted to hear from him, their answer apparently was ‘FUN!”

Well, I gotta say, this song and video are all kinds of fun. And speaking of the video, it was directed by Tyler Jensen, who directed the awesome Scream, Queen: My Nightmare On Elm Street.
