Condoms? Really, Naomi? Condoms aren’t a sex toy! They’re not even fun! Well, they aren’t in the strictest sense a toy, no, but they are definitely an essential for people who have penises and those who have sex with penis-having people. They’re also good for covering shared toys and make cleanup much easier. In short they are an essential accessory to have in your toy closet and why not have the best ones while you’re at it?

I’m talking about the Durex Air condom. These tout themselves as the company's thinnest condom. They come in a shiny holographic foil box, which, for me, is exciting. Condom boxes generally aren’t heavy but it feels like there’s even less weight in this box than a standard box, like, well, there’s just air in there. They are straight-walled with a reservoir tip and come in the standard girth of 54mm. They are clear and transparent which is kind of a neat trippy thing to trick yourself into thinking it isn’t there at all. They are also pre-lubricated. Myself and my testers noticed that if you’re using a condom for oral you generally have that kinda gross rubbery/powdery taste to the condom and we didn’t experience that with these. The box advertises “pleasant smell” and I think they taste/smell vaguely citrusy, but without screaming “flavored condom” to the user. The testers also said that they transmit body heat better than the average condom and help enhance the mood by being thin enough that you really forget it’s there. If they’re so thin, do they really work? Yes, I even had one of those stand up to anal just fine, so they’re legit. One tester said the latex felt sort of “crunchy” to them but it wasn't really unpleasant, just different. All of my testers enjoyed these, wearing or receiving.

These run about $15 for a pack of 10 condoms, so say you’re getting quite a bit of play and go through two packs a month, that’s $30 per month, $360 a year. By contrast, the average monthly cost of baby diapers is around $70, or $840 a year and that’s not even touching all the other stuff babies need. Save money and buy more fun stuff like porn and sex toys! Other unsolicited Auntie Naomi advice-- don’t put condoms in your wallet because it’s super warm next to your butt and the packaging can also get punctured or torn in a high-traffic place like your wallet so it may be unusable by the time you want to use it. Also mind your expiry dates-- this box I have doesn’t expire till 2025 so they last awhile, but keep them in a cool, dry place.

You can buy Durex Air at the Fleshbot Store by clicking here. Although they are already lubricated, most people like to use them with some lube to make things slippery, slidey, and feel more natural. It also reduces the chance of breakage. Despite what you think you see on camera in porn, spit is not lube, so pick some lube up, you’ll be glad you did. Shipping is free, so get some fun stuff on top of your safer sex supplies!
